Blushing by WishmasterAlchemist Blushing by WishmasterAlchemist

.:: Blushing ::.

because we're aware of the admirers

This photo was taken in May 2013; finally something springtime-like, right? These are carnations (Dianthus caryophyllus) and although I love the flowers I must say that almost none of the shots I took of them looked any brilliant, so this is the only one I'm going to post. I suppose it is because 2013's spring was awful in terms of rainy weather and it made me feel kind of depressed and definitely not in the right mood for photos.

Anyways, cheer up because May 2013 is also when I brought Oliver home, and if you don't know who that is, stay tuned for an overload of cute kitten photos coming soon X3

In the post-processing here I did some selective saturation and desaturation on the reds and greens respectively, tweaked the contrast+brightness, and applied the usual sharpening. (The original image wasn't cropped.) ;3

Enjoy <3

Photo taken with Manual settings - the shallow DOF is 100% lens-made, no textures applied.

Shot with a Canon PowerShot SX1 IS

This is marvelous!
The composition is brilliant! The Tilt of the image is beautifully done and it makes this piece have a greater visual impact. The main flower in focus is not directly in the center, which makes it more effective. The focus is also spectacular. The transition between the focus and out of focus flowers is so beautiful.
What I love most about this piece however is the colors. The reds are so vibrant and crisp, and yet the stems and buds seem less saturated than the flowers themselves. The warm colors of the reds paired with the less saturated green is stunning to look at.
This piece is definitely museum worthy.

Nice flowers! The color is a wonderful red with a nice silky texture in view, and I love the shape of the petals!
