In The Cypress Tree by WishmasterAlchemist In The Cypress Tree by WishmasterAlchemist

... In The Cypress Tree ...

Eurasian Collared Dove (Streptopelia decaocto)

Taken from the kitchen window, this beautiful bird was resting on a branch of the cypress tree in my garden, supposed to be a Smooth Arizona Cypress 'Blue Ice' (Cupressus arizonica var. glabra).

These doves have been around my place for years and I simply love them, especially for their black collar and ruby red eyes. ♥

Shot with a Canon PowerShot SX1 IS

This absolutely gorgeous. It's not just a shot of a dove, you've captured its timid nature and softy beauty. It really has character. The colours are fantastic too.

Beautiful photo.
Silly question but how do you change the font and size in the artists comment bit? Mine always seem to be the same size. :)

There are different tags you can use for making your text bigger or smaller, like text, <h2>text</h2>, and <h3>text</h3> ;)

Weird, they've always worked fine for me... the colours are dA's default ones, as far as I know there's no way you can change the text colours.

I love the fact that the Bird isn't in the foreground as well as the picture reveals itself to me as a calm scenery due to the color. Nice Job!

Ohhh, I just adore collared doves! I don't now why, perhaps it's just the simplicity of their appearance :aww:

I don't have those fancy cameras though to get a good shot, the only decent thing I've got is an SLR but it's not like there's going to be a darkroom around the corner to process my film with!

Anywho, loving the depth of field in this, I've always got a thing for having to blur something, it adds so much emphasise to the object you wish the viewer to see :) such lovely lighting, gives off a warm glow, almost feels seasonal <3

Everything seems fine, though I feel really nit picky for this, it's a shame about the top branch overlaying the dove's head slightly, if it was behind then it wouldn't have bothered me ^^; guess I get this from my teacher. I once got a shot of a wood pigeon on a feeder, looking straight at me and froze at a perfect wing cycle, not a single blur! He grades it down cause the very top of the wings, like a cm, were cropped out of the shot cause they didn't fit, it's a crime!!!
