As you might have guessed by now, this piece's title has been inspired by the American alternative rock band with the same name. I love their music and when I was searching my mind for a title for this image, I kept looking looking at the picture and thinking: 'It's very yellow', so in the end I came up with Yellow[card].
Since the very beginning, I planned this shot to be entirely yellow, because Forsythia bushes in bloom are just like that. The Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens allowed me to get close to my subject and capture the details of one small, flawless flower among thousands.
Once the image was cropped tight on the flower, my post processing was the easiest, as I had no intention to alter the natural yellow tone of the flowers significantly, so I applied an adjustment curve to strengthen the contrast and brighten the colours throughout the image, and that was about all. The late afternoon sunlight helped greatly with a perfect exposure that didn't burn the highlights on the flower petals.
